A proposal of dynamic bandwidth limit method for CBQ

DiffServ is a priority control scheme to differentiate network services by their required QoS, in the Internet. One of the methods to realize Diffserv is CBQ, which prepares a queue for each priority class on routers and provides priority control based on the predefined bandwidth limit of each class. Since CBQ fixes the upper bound of allocation bandwidth for each class, it may not be able to keep flexible control, even when each queue has sufficiently free space. This paper proposes a dynamic bandwidth limit method for CBQ, where each queue of classes is separated by some number of levels. In the method, bandwidth limit is changed by the level of each queue length. Finally, we perform computer simulation experiments to evaluate our proposal.
