Comparison of Different Planting Systems for Conference Pears

Compared with 20 years ago, the acreage of pears in Belgium has more than doubled. After the planting season 2010-2011, we had 8,234 ha of pears, of which 7,100 ha were Conference. Although the expansion in recent years has slowed down, the total production will increase in the next few years even further. This will inevitably have an influence on pricing and financial results. Therefore in future, it will be even more important to choose a planting system where investments can be quickly recovered and where the amount of large pears with a green background color is as high as possible.
