THE DELTA WONDER

The Dassault Mirage 2000 is well known for its outstanding agility and its impressive performance. Today, the aircraft remains at the forefront of the defensive and offensive capabilities of the French AF and numerous foreign air arms. The Mirage 2000 was conceived as a successor to the Mirage F1, which had in turn replaced the Mirage III as the major Dassault combat aircraft product line. With the Mirage 2000, Dassault reintroduced the acclaimed delta aerodynamic configuration that had proven so successful with the Mirage III, but this time with fly-by-wire controls for maximum maneuverability. The configuration was further refined on the Rafale, which brought in twin engines and canard foreplanes.
