Kandahar - Air power for Helmand (Part 2) - Dutch Air Task Force AFGHANISTAN

Since October 2002, aircraft and helicopters of the Royal Netherlands AF (Koninklijke Luchtmacht, or KLu) have maintained a near-continuous presence in Afghanistan. The KLu air operations over Afghanistan have represented a massive commitment for a country as small as the Netherlands. Now, eight years on, the Dutch are completing the process of redeploying their forces back home. On August 1, 2010, the Dutch contingent was officially withdrawn from Afghanistan. Of course, due to the gradual rundown and the continuous need for support, the Dutch air assets will remain somewhat longer in the Afghan area of operations (AOR), each particular aircraft type is continuing in theater for as long as necessary, possibly up until the end of 2010.
