摘要

Bacterial wilt of tomato caused by Ralstonia solanacearum is a widely distributed disease in many tropical, subtropical and warm temperature regions of the world. The disease is a limiting factor for tomato production, as the application of chemicals, soil fumigation and crop rotation are practically ineffective. The use of resistant cultivars is the most effective method of control for the disease. Although various types of resistance have been studied and several bacterial wilt-tolerant cultivars have been released, the resistance often breaks down outside the specific region where it was developed and is insufficient for use in heavily infested fields.
