MORE FIGHTERS FOR THE GULF: KUWAITI AND QATARI DEALS APPROVED

THE UNITED STATES has finally given approval to long- awaited fighter sales to Kuwait and Qatar. A third such deal, with Bahrain, may well follow. In early September it was reported that the US was close to approving sales of Boeing fighters worth a total of around $7 billion to Kuwait and Qatar. First mooted around two years ago, the deals had been held up by the US government due to Israeli concerns, which have now been resolved (see Headlines, Combat Aircraft November 2016).
