Viper gets a probe: F-16s now able to tank from probe-and-drogue systems

Development of the conformal aerial refueling tank system (CARTS) for the F-16 began in July 2007 and was led by the Lockheed Martin Skunk Works. While all production F-16s are equipped with receptacles designed for refueling from tankers equipped with flying booms, CARTS allows Fighting Falcons to be replenished using probe-and-drogue systems.
