摘要

Squash products are rich in gamma -aminobutyric acid. Animal experiments were performed in order to investigate whether stress could be reduced in mice through the ingestion of squash products. Stress was induced by inhalation of ether; the quantities of adrenal cortex stimulating hormone, serotonin and thyroid hormone in the blood were determined. In comparison with control mice, mice that ingested squash products for 6 days (600 mg/kg/day), the amount of adrenal cortex stimulating hormone fell significantly; the reduction in amounts of serotonin and thyroid hormone eased. Thiopental anaesthesia time was extended in mice that ingested squash product.
