From agriculture based on fossil fuel resources to agriculture based on biological interactions and matter cycling in agroecosystems.

摘要

This paper discusses two topics. The first discussion concerns the importance of the use of complex biological interactions as an alternative to the heavy use of fossil energy in modern agriculture. The second discusses the importance of matter cycling in agricultural ecosystems using examples of carbon and nitrogen budgets in ecosystems of grasslands, upland crop fields and paddy fields in Japan.
