摘要

A new analytical approach to the determination of the total organic content in water is proposed. It is based on determining the amount of oxygen consumed for the high-temperature oxidation of organic substances contained in a water sample. A rapid method without precalibration is developed. Concentration ranges for aqueous solutions of organic compounds of various classes are determined; the correlation coefficient between the measured values of chemical oxygen demand and the calculated oxidizability by oxygen within these ranges is close to 1. It is shown that the proposed method can replace determination by the chemical oxygen demand for waters with oxidizability within the O_2 range 10-500 mg/L; the analysis time is decreased from 2 h to 5 min. The procedure and instrument are certified. The method can be used in analyzing potable, natural, and waste waters.
