Prices to keep growing in CIS

The hike in export prices for flats (up 110-120/t or 16-17% in February-March) will trigger about the same rise in CIS domestic marketquotations. Most key markets (Middle East, Europe, SE Asia) enjoystrong sales related to the increase in contract prices for raw materialsand healthy demand. As a result, steelmakers will be able to step upexports and keep raising domestic prices. FOB-quotations will continueto grow in April, though at a slower pace of $10-20/t. Internationalmarkets are expected to slow down in May, which will urge a reversalof export price trend and a subsequent decrease in domesticquotations, Metal Expert believes.
