New data on morphology of four species of the genus Chaetoceros (Bacillariophyta)

Four species of the genus Chaetoceros Ehr.: C.ingolfianus and C.karianus (section Brevicatenata), C.mitra (section Dicladia), C.teres (section Cylindrica) from the White, Barents, Kara, Laptev and Chukchi seas have been studied using the scanning electron microscopy (SEM). New information on the morphology of frustules is present. Since the SEM data on the fine structure of valves and setae are lacking in literature, the emended diagnoses of these species were compiled. Some aspects of morphology and taxonomy of the four species are discussed.
