Contents of N, P, K and Ca were determined during 1982-88 in current-year needles on young growth of Picea obovata regenerating on felled areas, and in plantations (2-10 years old) on 2 site types in the Chulym/Yenisey floodplain, Siberia. Total contents of Ca + K were similar in the natural and planted stands, but Ca predominated in plantations and K in natural regeneration. Results are discussed in relation to abnormal shoot development in plantations under full solar radiation.
