The fire was not catastrophic for dry steppe in Saratov region. As a result of the fire, a Stipa lessingiana-Festuca valesiaca community was succeeded by a Festuca valesiaca community. The general idea is that the existence of the steppe vegetation is not threatend with the fire. A new community has been generated which had rich species composition, different structure and other phitocoenotic relations. Competitive capacity of Festuca valesiaca becomes stronger. The free places became occupied by the species of xerophytic forbs.
