The effect of different fertilizer treatments on the yield and quality of potatoes on dernopodzolic sandy loam soil

Field trials carried out in 1995-97 in the Minsk oblast', Belarus on dernopodzolic sandy loam soil are reported, in which the effects of 15 fertilizer treatments (NPK, PK, NP or NK fertilizers with 70 t cattle manure/ha) on yields and quality of potatoes were investigated. Treatments were designed either to produce a surplus, maintain levels, or produce a deficit of P and K in soil. Highest crop yields (22.0-23.5 t/ha) were achieved with a treatment of 60:40:120 N:P:K with 70 t cattle manure/ha, which also maintained crop quality. Composition of tubers is described.
