Fourteen species of forest insect pests (the cerambycids Semanotus japonica [S. japonicus], Callidiellum rufipenne and Monochamus alternatus, the scolytids Cryphalus fulvus, Ips cembrae, Phloeosinus perlatus, Xyleborus pfeili, X. validus, Xylosandrus germanus, X. brevis and Scolytoplatypus tycon, the platypodids Platypus calamus and P. quercivorus, and the curculionid Pissodes nitidus) were fumigated with sulfuryl fluoride at several concentrations for 24 h at 25鳦 to evaluate their susceptibility.Concentration-mortality data and Probit analysis data showed that S. japonicus eggs were the least susceptible (LD95 = 57.4 g m-3) and 100 g m-3 was required for complete mortality. X. pfeili eggs and larvae were the least susceptible to the fumigant and complete mortality was not obtained at 100 g m-3. Eggs of P. nitidus were not killed at 50 g m-3. All life stages of all other species were killed at 10-40 g m-3.
