iVDRハードウエア技術規格の開発と国際標準化

摘要

iVDR is a standardized cartridge-type removable medium installed HDD. It has the standard HDD features such as large capacity, high-speed data transfer, and so on. In removable media, compatibility assurance is the most important component. The iVDR is a technical specification developed by the iVDR consortium to utilize a bridge medium for various types of equipment. The technical specifications of the iVDR hardware were published as an international standard (ISO/IEC29171) in November 2009. This article describes the technical concepts of the iVDR hardware standard, including its size, shape, interface connector, and so on. The hardware standardization history along with the surrounding technology trends and activities is described to demonstrate how the iVDR international standard has been achieved.
