The Chief Engineer of Azerkimiya, Firudin Mustafaev, has confirmed the plan to raise the output of polypropylene to 200,000 t/yr by the construction of a new plant at Sumgait. The project will be realised in two stages, with the first stage yielding 350,000 t/yr of polyethylene and 120,000 t/yr of polypropylene and the second stage raising production to 500,000 t/yr of polyethylene and 200,000 t/yr of polypropylene. Azerbaijan will supply 90% of the feedstock and 95% of the output will be exported.
