The "SOCAR Georgia Petroleum" company has been granted advantageous customs status by the Ministry of Finance for the import of oil products. The company has been designated a "participant of trade and customs cooperation". This is normally granted to major tax payers and gives SOCAR a period of up to one month to pay import duty after the oil products have been imported plus a number of other technical advantages such as the use of the "ASYCUDA" automated customs system.
