There are reports that BP is considering selling part of its stake in the AiOC consortium to raise money for dealing with its problem in the Guif of Mexico. It is claimed that BP has been approaching other oil companies and investment companies with an offer to sell 5-10% of its stake for ￡6 bn sterling, with ExxonMobil, Total and Shell said to be interested. BP has to create a fund of $20 bn to pay potential damages in the USA and is thought to be looking round the world for assets to sell.
