SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullaev says that Azerbaijan's two refineries have a refining depth of 91.6%. He adds that SOCAR is already producing oil products of Euro-2 standard and is considering the prospects for producing Euro-3 and Euro-4 fuel. SOCAR's "Neftegaz" institute has been instructed to carry out research into the technical and economic aspects of producing Euro-3 diesel fuel and initial findings suggest that this will be possible without great expenditure. The cost of producing Euro-3 gasoline with a benzene content of less than 1% is also being studied, although this will probably require the installation of a new refining plant.
