Review of the efficacy and cost effectiveness of applying badger control fencing around an area within a 4,500 acre estate in a hotspot area for Bovine Tuberculosis in protecting from further reactor disclosure and comparative intradermal test for Mycobacterium bovis

A 4,500 acre organic farm with mixed deer (150 head), sheep (3,500 head + lambs) and cattle (400 head) enterprise spent 10,000 pound during the summer of 2013 to surround the cattle housing area and feed store with badger protection fencing. This comprised a 75mm square reinforced mesh fence buried to a depth of fifty centimetres. Outside of this, at a height of 10cm from the ground was an encircling strand of mains electrified wire.
