Reaction of B16H20 with [RUCl2(PPh3)(3)] gives a [(PPh3)(2)RuB16H20] species of which the metallaborane cluster configuration consists of a conventional nido ten-vertex {B-10} of unit fused via a common {B-3} face with a ten-vertex {RuB9} unit of novel 'neonido' ten-vertex shape.
