There is an increasing prevalence of civilian gunshot injuries over the last two decades around the world: approximately 29 000 deaths from gunshot wounds (GSWs) were recorded in USA in 2000,(1) 4558 firearms accidents were registered in 2007 in Germany, along with increasing trends in UK.(2) Although GSWs are well studied, the unpredictable trajectory of the bullets and the possibility of their migration within the body can pose considerable diagnostic and treatment challenges, especially when there is no corresponding exit wound.
