摘要

We are living in the ECO Society and the refractory industry is in the same environment. The refractory industry is now required to develop low carbon MgO-C bricks having a high insulation ability to contribute to energy savings and to develop chrome-free bricks to decrease wastes containing toxic substances. We developed a white MgO-C brick (hereafter called W-MgO-C) by coating a MgO-C brick with magnesia as shown in Fig. 1- This brick (hereafter called Nano Tech MgO-C brick) has a matrix containing nano size carbon particles and a carbon content 1/5 ~ 1/10 that of current MgO-C bricks. This paper describes features of the W-MgO-C compared with MgG-Cr_2O_3 and the Nano Tech MgO-C bricks.
