Development of MgO-C Refractories for Bottom-Blowing Nozzle in BOF Converters

For the purpose of increasing the life of bottom-blowing nozzles used in converters, the hot strength was increased without lowering the thermal spalling resistance by optimizing the content of graphite, and adding special metals. The improvement of the nozzles was demonstrated by the increased life in actual field trials.
