THE CONURBATION STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE IN THE CHANGING RIVER DELTA AND THE DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY STUDY OF HANGZHOU AS AN INTERNATIONAL TOURIST CITY

Since the 1950s, modern international cities have sprung up aroundthe world and have become centers of world political and economicaffairs. It the 1990s, major objectives of establishing internationalcities were put forward by more han forthy central cities such asBeijing, Shanghaim, and Guangzhou. The main theme of the 21st centurydevelopment of central cities in China will be urban modernize,internationalization, and topiclaizting. This study was conductedwith the linention of researching he regional development strategyfor he Changing River Delta (CRD) conurbation, wiht focus on thestrategic development and positioning of HUangzhou, the central cityof Zhejiang Province. Results from international urban studies inChina and abroad were incorporated into this article from thetheoretical viewpoints of urban science, regional economics andtourism economics. The findings of this study could provide someimportant implications for future research and practice.
