I would like to say that I read this article with pleasure and interest.1 The mattress suture to correct anterior sep-tal deviation is a technique I personally have used for over twenty years and have taught it to trainees with whom I happen to have had contact. There are only two points I wish to make. One is that it is quite possible to use a mattress suture completely submucosally, and one can then use an absorbable suture as well as a non-absorbable suture; most frequently I use an absorbable suture. The second point is that anterior septal deviation can actually produce quite a complex shape, and a simple wedge may not completely address the complex curvature that needs to be corrected.
