摘要

The report also shows that in markets where a breakdown between Arabica and Robusta use is given, the latter more than held on to its growing market share, despite the big rise in its pricein 2005, which continued in 2006. An analysis of the figures also lends credence to the view that distinguishing national preferences in coffee tastes are disappearing, and a so-called pan-European blend is emerging, as a result of ever-closer integration, thanks largely to the EU. Evidence of this homogenization of taste is that southern Europe and the UK, which once showed a marked preference for robustas because of many countries' historical colonial ties with African producers of the type, are increasing arabica consumption and northern Europe is moving towards its rival.
