The global steel industry is still tossing in choppy waters. Steel output has reportedly pared by 19 per cent in November, 2008 in comparison to the previous year's November performance. This crisis not being a typical cyclical downturn, as have been spied earlier, experts fear may continue for quite some time. Steel observers globally are of the view that the extent of the fall in steel production may hover around 10 per cent or a little more in 2009. Steel production in various companies has been strictly checked owing to the beating the demand for steel has taken worldwide, especially, in Europe and USA.
