Giprokoks has upgraded the chemical plants at existing coking and chemical organizations on the basis of improving the purification of the coking gas, upgrading the design of equipment, and introducing environmental-protection and energy-saving measures. In such current plant, the coking gas is treated to trap chemical products by the use of the most efficient equipment and technological schemes. Efficient cooling at the start of the gas system provides for normal operation of all the equipment for trapping chemical products. In schemes devised by the chemical section of Giprokoks, the coking gas is cooled to 25-30 deg C, with those parameters determined by the temperature of the cooling water. For organizations in the CIS countries, the gas can be cooled to 25 deg C even at the hottest time of year without using cooled water. The necessary temperature in the cooling water is attained at hot times of year by two-stage cooling in exchangers. Heavier gas cooling (to 22-23 deg C) involves the use of cool water derived from refrigerating plant.
