The investigators' aim in this study was to assess results of other autologous vein graft types compared with single segment great saphenous vein (ssGS V) graft, and to determine the rate and type of patency maintenance procedures for patients having infrainguinal bypass grafting owing to critical limb ischemia (CLI). Risk factors for vein graft stenosis and graft failure were explored to identify those grafts that would most benefit from duplex surveillance. Outcome of patients with high operative risk undergoing infrainguinal alternative autologous vein bypass for CLI were also evaluated.The investigators conducted a retrospective reviewed of 1,109 consecutive infrainguinal bypasses performed between 2000 and 2007 for CLI at Helsinki University Central Hospital. The median age of the study population was 74 years.
