Seedling growth of Prosopisjuliflora (SW) DC was investigated under nursery environs. To assess the relative growth performance of seedlings under different soil mixes, varied ratios of sand, clay and FYM were used. The conventional soil mix (recommended by CAZRI, Jodhpur), which is. used commonly to raise the seedlings in forest nurseries throughout the arid western Rajasthan, was taken as control. The performance of P. juliflora seedlings in terms of collar diameter and shoot growth, as well as interms of relative growth rate (RGR) for the whole seedling, was found to be better in conventional soil mix as compared to other treatments employed. This indicated that CAZRI, Jodhpur recommended soil mix (sand: clay: FYM = 2:1:1), which was taken as control, was superior to other amended soil nursery mixes.
