The results obtained in analyzing data obtained for various lignite groups, as well as for the wide range of hard coals from the Kuzbass, which includes virtually all the grades in groups in the Unified Classification (COST 25543-88), can be regarded as applicable to coals from all fields and deposits covered by this classification system, since the grades in it were formulated with a single set of parameters, proceeding from commonality of coal technological and power generation characteristics and independent of field of occurrence. Establishment of relationships between the coefficients of relative technological value (with petrographic features taken into account) and coal prices on both domestic and world markets is very important for solution of a number of problems (such as assessment of reserves in geological prospecting, creation of feedstock bases for coal concentration plants, establishment and adjustment of coking charges, assurance of consistent fuel quality for power generation facilities, and establishment of realistic prices ensuring coal competitiveness under market conditions). The proposed approaches are best utilized in working up standards documentation (quality standards, technical specifications, etc.) for coal mining and processing enterprises, as well as in market research.
