摘要

Heterocyclic nitrogen compounds that are formed during the thermal processing of fossil fuels constitute a large class of compounds which are noted for the arrangement of the nitrogen atom in the molecule. They include pyrrole, pyridine, quinoline, acridine, their homologs and derivatives, aniline and its homologs, cyano derivatives and others. The nitrogen compounds most widespread in living and inanimate nature are extensively used in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, in medicine and agriculture. In this connection, the byproduct coke industry is considered to be the major source of pyridine and quinoline bases, which are used for the production of medicinals, surface-active substances (surfactants), pesticides, dyes, corrosion inhibitors, flotation reagents.
