Present-day technologies of recovery of chemical products of the coking process do not involve, as a rule, sulfate sections. Ammonia is recovered from the gas by water or a solution of ammonium orthophosphates and is then desorbed from solutions; it is destroyed by thermal or catalytic methods. Wide use has been made of the most improved ammoniacal cyclic and catalytic methods of purification of coke-oven gas from hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen cyanide. This development of technologies based on continuous processes has led to the computerization of the control of the processes of treatment of coke-oven gas and also provided the fulfillment of the requirements with respect to ecology and labor conditions.
