Anthracites: Reserves, Extraction, Properties, and Use

The specific properties of anthracites (high mechanical strength, thermal stability, low yield of volatiles, large carbon content in the organic mass) permit their use not only as a dust-free fuel and/or heat carrier but as a raw material for various technological processes (the production of electrodes, silicon carbide, zinc oxide, microphone powder, thermographite, sinter, iron-ore pellets, etc.). Activated anthracite may be successfully used to purify gases, waste water, and chemical products of the oil and gas industry.
