1. Charging additional individual noncaking and caking coals into coke ovens produces mild temperature conditions in the space beneath the oven roof. 2. Charging briquettes on top of a base burden changes the aerodynamic situation in the upper part of the burden due to the greater porosity of the briquette layer. The gaseous products flow from the wall through the briquettes and strengthen the briquette surfaces due to pyrolysis of the gaseous products of decomposition from the organic matter of the burden. 3. The temperature in the briquette zone was higher, resulting in greater pyrolysis of the briquettes. 4. The experiments using additional charging of individual noncaking and caking coals and briquettes into ovens confirm the possibility of obtaining special types of cokes in ordinary slot-type furnaces.
