Upon addition of waste plastics in an amount of up to 5 percent to a coal blend the quality of coke with respect to the size K_(50), grindability G_(25) and abradability A_(10) is improved. The reactivity of coke increases with its porosity remaining constant.Depending on the content of waste plastics, the calorific value of coke-oven gas increases by 1.1-1.4 times. The addition of <= 5 percent of waste plastics to a coal blend does not impair the technological and consumer properties of the chemicals produced in the coking process. Of special importance from the standpoint of ecological safety is the decrease of the content of benzo(e)pyrene and benzo(a)pyrene in coal tar.The results of the present work may serve as a sufficient basis for subsequent industrial coking of coal blends with a mixture of waste plastics.
