Rheological Properties of Modified Petroleum Electrode Pitch

Upon introduction of paraffin and naphthalene into pyrolysis pitch there is observed a characteristic (for polymers) phenomenon of pitch plasticization. The most active compound added to pitch is paraffin: at a concentration of 1 percent the softening point of pitch decreases by a factor of 25 deg C.
