Sensitization of emulsive explosive mixtures using microspheres

The emulsive explosive mixtures developed in the 1970s are currently the most promising industrial explosive mixtures. There are tow widely used means to decrease the density of an emulsion matrix: to add a gasifying chemical agent or to add hollow microspheres. The addition of microspheres to an emulsion matrix lowers the final density of the mixture. However, the detonation capacity of am emulsive explosive mixture is not determined solely by its density, and will also depend on the effectiveness of the sensitizing additive.
