Estimated Blood Pressure Algorithm for a Wrist-wearable Pulsimeter Using Hall Device

In order to measure the blood pressure (BP) by using the pulse wave obtained from the radial artery, we developed a cuffless wrist-wearable pulsimeter with a Hall device. Based on an analysis of the non-pressurized pulse wave obtained from the Hall device, which detects minute changes in the magnetic field of a permanent magnet, a new algorithm for estimating the BP in oriental diagnostic medicine is proposed. Using the pulse wave data obtained from a clinical trial involving 13 subjects, we derived an equation for the regression analysis. This equation can be used to determine the correlation factor. The standard deviation of the estimated and measured values for high blood pressure was 3.5 mmHg and that for low blood pressure was 3.8 mmHg, which were close to the BP International Standard.
