摘要

Contingency ranking based on voltage instability indices is the approach of this paper and the results obtained are compared with those obtained from the classical overload and voltage deviations approach. The voltage instability indices suitable for on-line applications are conveniently made use of for determining the most serious contingency cases in terms yf the distance from voltage collapse or loadability limit. The approach is tested on various systems and the ranking based on the voltage instability indices gives far superior and consistent ranking especially for critical contingency cases with large voltage deviations.
