Clean Coal Technology

摘要

Coal, like all energy resources, faces environmental challenges. This has once again been discussed closely in the recent International Workshop on Coal for Sustainable Energy in New Delhi hosted by World Coal Institute jointly with International Energy Agency in May this year. It was emphasized in the gathering that India, being a signatory to the Kyoto Protocol and a member of the Asia Pacific Partnership, has to play an important role on clean energy production for sustainable development. In this background, clean coal technology (CCT), the topic for Coal India - J G Kumarmangalam Memorial Award is a very right selection of the time. The author has attempted to discuss all aspects of CCT from cradle to the grave in the coal chain. Justice could not been done for all the items to keep the paper short. However, all relevant issues have been touched upon including future actions needed to be done.
