摘要

Machine cool structure is an assemblage of various components. These components are joined either by bolts or sliding joints. These joints play an important role 'while estimating dynamic characteristics of the structure. In the present article, a mathematical model of metallic contact type joint has been proposed. The joints have been modeled as hypothetical 3-D beam elements which can directly be integrated into finite element analysis (FEA) of the structure. The proposed joint element is capable of simulating the effect of joint and surface finish on the resonant frequency and loss factor of the structure.
