Multi-objective Optimisation Model of Power Transmission Substation Location for Sustainable Environment

Studies reveal the undesirable effects of extra high voltage (EHV) to the surrounding environment. Earlier, substation location research has emphasized on the proximity to demand points to minimize transmission losses. An attempt has been made to formulate a new model for minimizing both quantitative (installation and transmission losses) and qualitative costs (undesirable effects on the environment). For the latter purpose, activity relationship diagram (REL chart) or closeness relationship ratings have been quantified. The twin objectives have been weighted by vectors to transform and solve the multi-objective problem. The proposed model has been solved and verified by a case example of Madhya Pradesh state power transmission company data.
