The soil sample is dried,powdered and passed through a 2 mm sieve.The stones and fine earth are weighted separately.The fine earth is bottled in one Ib bottle.Weigh out 10 g of soil in a porcelain or silica dish.Dry it in an air oven for 6 hrs.at 105°.Weigh after cooling for half an hour to find out the moisture percentage on dry basis.
