Opportunities for the Marine Engineering Industry to Contribute towards Work of Naval Dockyards

Over a long period of time Indian Navy shoulder critical responsibility by providing protection upon the sixth largest coastline of the world. Since the post independence era, Indian Navy has been developed as a multi-dimensional force and maximise the production of indigenous equipments and system components in Indian ships. This indigenisation further enhanced through the involvement of private sector. During this procedure, Indian Navy also has concentrated upon determining economic order quantity and simple procurement procedure. This paper briefly discusses about the steps involved with indigenisation and different naval procurement agencies. The paper has also discussed different aspects of Mumbai Naval Dockyard. The paper is concluded with vendor registration and subsequent vendor assessment procedure in the naval dockyard.
