摘要

During the past years considerable evidence have been accumulated to demonstrate the potential of pyrimidinones incorporating variety of therapeutic activities like antitumor1, antiinflammatory2, anthelmintic3, etc. With a view to assessing the potential of pyrimidinones, some new pyrimidinones have been synthesised.The hydrazone has been prepared by reaction of phenyl hydrazine and acetophenone, which on reaction with DMF-POCl3 gave 1N,3-diphenyl-4-formyl pyrazole (I). Reaction of (I) with different arylketones yielded chalcones (II), which on reaction with urea in presence of HC1 as catalyst yielded our target molecule pyrimidinones (IIIa-m).
