Recently, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has started to invest heavily in the infrastructure of the entertainment industry. In order to challenge the dominant positions of Cairo and Beirut on the music market of the region, Dubai established its Media City. By operating as a tax free zone and with the intention to guarantee the "freedom to create," Dubai'sMedia City aims to attract the major players of the music industry, from the region and beyond, to the UAE.
